Bonfires, Giveaways and Humour with Spicy Hobo Greeting Cards

Weekly Drivel Logo

Another week. Gone by in a flash. The Zoo took advantage of the warm weather and got some work done outside.

We also created three posts introducing you to some great companies (make this one four!) and offering you giveaways so that you can experience them yourselves. You’re welcome.

Without further ado, here is The Zoo’s week in review (including the Drivel).

Max helping out with the Bonfire Sunday had us outside all day burning brush, playing in the water table and having a picnic.

Max insisted upon wearing his “work gloves”. Courtesy of his loot bag from The Loot Bag Lady, see Thursday for details.

When we were done with that, Ed tilled my garden.

I can’t wait to get planting; beets, beans, peas, tomatoes, onions, lettuce, spinach, kale to start.

Piczzle Puzzle of The Kids Monday had us posting our weekly Movie Hop review. Given that the 4th was “May the Fourth be With you” Day, we watched the original Star Wars Trilogy. Find out which Star Wars movie was our favourite. P.S. The answers to our quiz are; Gone with the Wind and Avatar, Tattooine, C-3PO and Han Solo.

Tuesday had The Kids putting together the cutest photo puzzle ever. Be sure to enter the giveaway to win one for yourself.

Wednesday had us issuing our “Wednesday Weekly–Ottawa Edition” and peeing our pants with Spicy Hobo Greeting Cards.

Speaking of which, we happened to receive a bunch in the mail and at first glance, it’s obvious that these aren’t just any regular cards. Printed on recycled cardstock with matching envelopes, the graphics and writing appear homemade.

It’s as if I drew them myself. Okay, maybe not, there’s no way that I could replicate the detail in the hands. True artistry.

Ed even asked if they were one-of-a-kind. None of those cheap $1 cards ever fooled him into believing that they cost any more than .50 cents. These ones actually look like they’re worth their cost of $3.49. Below are three of my favourites.

#1: Check yourself before you wreck yourself. Happy Birthday. #2: Happy Anniversary! #3: Happy Birthday.

The dry humour is quite smart and has me chuckling as I write this. I mean, nothing says “Happy Birthday” like gifting a loved one a card with a squirrel on it. However, if my humour isn’t your humour then stop by their site and choose from their wide variety. The real test? Seeing what Uncle Kevin has to say about them. Even the biggest stick in the mud will break a smile with…

Humourous Greeting Cards from Spicy Hobo!

Thursday we posted details on Artemis’ third birthday party of the year. Yes, her third! Fortunately, The Kids and their friends were able to enjoy loot bags courtesy of a local company; The Loot Bag Lady. If you live around the Ottawa area, check her out and enter to Win a $50 gift certificate!

Today I got my teeth cleaned. I was looking forward to it all week. Is that weird?

Friday we turned the heat back on after being off for over a week!? I guess Summer is over and it’s back to being Spring.

Rene and I spent the afternoon at a semi-annual garage sale in Metcalfe and came home with four cloth bags overflowing with items all for $25.75. I would have taken a picture but I was too excited to look through all the (VHS) movie classics that I got. Think Smokey and the Bandit and Revenge of the Nerds. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you will…

Saturday will see Ed heading to an auction sale and on Sunday we’ll enjoy the day as a family.

What’s Your Weekly Drivel?

Ha! Those cards sound like something I could see myself buying for a number of friends and family members. And I love that they're unique. Will definitely be checking them out to see what else they have! 🙂
