The Whole Family loves French Toast with Dempsters ZERO Bread

Dempsters Zero Whole Wheat Bread

Imagine living in a foreign country for four months and only being able to bring five foodstuffs with you. Do you know what you’d bring? Since I face this conundrum every year, I know exactly what I’d pack; couscous, kalamata olives, basmati rice, and Canadian Maple Syrup for our French Toast. On Dempsters bread of course. There are some things that a Family shouldn’t have to live without.

So, on Ed’s most recent (return) trip to Canada, I asked him to bring back some bread to replenish our stock. Something a little different from the usual Dempsters Original 100% Whole Wheat Bread. He came back with something we hadn’t tried before, Dempsters ZERO 100% Whole Grain Bread.

Did you know that Dempsters ZERO bread has “no added fat or sugar”?

Seeing as I am hypoglycemic, I was interested in seeing what 0 grams of sugar and 14g of carbs (per slice) tasted like. But, I wasn’t the only critic. The Kids wanted to see how the bread measured up with their Dads Famous French Toast Recipe. Minus the Triplet Sec ;).

French Toast with Dempsters Zero Bread

Tastes just like our regular Dempsters Bread Minus the Fat and Sugar!

Not only did The Kids love their French Toast (with Canadian Maple Syrup of course!) but I loved the fact that it’s good for them too. As with many of Dempsters Products, this bread has earned the Health Check symbol. This tells you that the food or menu item has been reviewed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s registered dietitians, that it meets nutrient criteria based on the recommendations in Canada’s Food Guide and can contribute to an overall healthy diet. Add to the fact that it’s a Canadian company and I am proud to say that my family eats Dempsters Products.

We regularly buy any of Dempsters whole-grain breads: my picky bread-guy buys according to whichever one is furthest from its best-by date, and so, freshest.

I think I would go with the Rye Country Caraway and/or Wholegrains, Multigrain Bread and perhaps Villaggio Italian style Crustini buns….so many options, I will probably change my mind 10 times. 😉

I would get the Villaggio Original Thick Sliced Italian Style White Bread since it’s one of our favourites! We love it for french toast and making garlic bread.

I would purchase bagels – plain, everything and cinnamon raisin. They are fantastic ever since they relaunched with their improved recipe a year or two ago.

I would be buying the Sun-Maid Raisin with Cinnamon Swirl Bread! And maybe wraps, but since we always buy those anyways it would probably be just the raisin bread as that is the treat! Yum!

I’d get the Maple French Toast Bagels if they’re still available, plus whichever grainy breads I may fancy at the time, such as WholeGrains Wheat & Oats with Honey.

If I could find the gluten zero, I would love to try it for my husband, if not, I think my daughter and I would enjoy the maple French toast bagel.

I don’t think I’ve tried Dempsters zero bread yet. We’re always buying Dempster’s Whole Grain breads. Today I noticed their new Quinoa bread…
