Is This How Your Kids Play With The Neighbours? #therealmexico #video

The Kids have known our neighbours kids since they were born. Yet, we’ve never been over to their house to play and they’ve only been over to ours once. Two and a half years ago. About that time, I just stopped asking anymore.

It’s not that they don’t like us because we’ve been over to their house many times for coffees and other events. In fact, we even went to Luis’* baptism. All the kids go to school together as well. I’ve given up trying to understand some aspects of the Mexican Culture.

However, The Kids have managed to play with the neighbours in their own way…

Do Your Kids Play with The Neighbours?

Love your landscaping – did you bring someone in for that? 😉
Funny how societal norms are so different from place to place. If you lived next door to my my kids would be at your house every..single..day. Great that they still found a way to ‘play’.

My kids didn’t play with their neighbours when there were children living there. The family has now moved so maybe with the next neighbours!

we don’t even know our neighbours. although we do have friends with kids so we just go a bit further and the kids can play with their friends while we visit ours. Plus our neighbours kids are much older than our are so I wouldn’t want them playing with kids that are 10 years older than them.

    Dear GingerMommy,

I’m so sorry to hear that the bully lives next door. It can sure make things uncomfortable but it sounds like you’ve got things all figured out.

Sometimes we wish for something else but what we get is the best gift of all.

My kids and the neighbours kids pretty much were together from the time they gobbled their breakfast til’ bathtime in the evening (home for meals of course-we encouraged our kids to have their meals at home and this was a mutual agreement with my neighbour). Our kids had so much fun together and we still remain very close!

When I was a kid, my little friends and I would play together all the time, in sun, rain, or snow. Kind of like the postal carriers.LOL However, it seems times have changed. I live in the same neighborhood I grew up in, Even though young families have moved back here, you rarely see the kids playing outside anymore. I often wonder why?

It’s obvious that the children like each other and I guess that waving is better and healthier than testing? I guess when you ‘are in Rome, you do what the Romans do!!’

My relationships with neighbours are usually just really neighbours or “acquaintances”. Our kids do play with each when at the local/neighbourhood park though, but we don’t have playdates at our houses

No one on our whole entire block has kids. Our kids friends live fairly close by so they play with them fairly often.
