Kids Feel Safer with the Glow of a @KinderGlo Night Light

KinderGlo LogoBeing afraid of the dark is not fun. Trust me, I know. I’ve been afraid of the dark for as long as I can remember. I’ve tried to keep my fears from The Kids and I think that I’ve done a good job. If that’s true then being afraid of the dark is hereditary because Artemis is also afraid of the dark.

Some nights, she gets herself so worked up about the monsters under the bed that I have to leave the hall light on. This is less than ideal because it disrupts Max’s sleep (he’s not afraid in the least) and it’s also an unnecessary use of electricity. So, when I heard about KinderGlo, I wanted to see if this product was the solution to our bedtime whoes.

Fun Safe Portable Night Light!

My first mistake was asking The Kids which of the many KinderGlo characters that they wanted. Unfortunately, Max wanted the T-Rex and Artemis wanted the Hippo. I told Max that Artemis was getting her choice because she was afraid of the dark and he could pick the next time. To which he promptly stated that HE was afraid of the dark. At only four years of age, The Kids are already smarter than me.

When it arrived (a much anticipated and discussed topic), it was really easy to set up. So easy that a four year old could do it. Before I could read the instruction booklet, The Kids had the one button settings all figured out.

My favourite feature was the ability to choose between auto-off after 30 minutes or continuous lighting. The Kids favourite part was all the changing colours. Artemis got her favourite colours; Pink/Purple and Max got his; Green/Blue.

Safe and Effective in Keeping the Monsters Away

The illumination strength isn’t adjustable (brighter or dimmer) but I don’t have a problem with its default. It’s bright enough to check the time but hasn’t kept The Kids awake. They love the night light so much that they often set it off during the day and just watch it. I understand that it’s safe to let them sleep with but we leave ours on a low shelf where if they wanted to touch it, they could. Which is fine because it’s never hot to the touch.

We spend a week camping each year and I like to bring The Kids night tools (night light, monitor and alarm clock), however, this product doesn’t have a battery backup. All might not be lost. I’m running an experiment and so far we’ve gone 3 days without a charge. I’ll let you know how long it lasts. Note that according to the product specifications, the charge should last for 8-10 hours which means 16-20 days and that’s plenty of time for us.

The night light comes with a one year warranty and at only $24.95 it’s a small price to pay for the peace of mind that it brings Artemis and myself. However, if you purchase one in the next three months, you can save an additional 20% with the online checkout code: ZOOJOURNEYS. Or, try your hand at winning one below. Win a KinderGlo Night Light!

My daughter likes the elephant the best!

It only shows up in a small group picture, not in the store. If it’s not available, the bear is her next favourite.

I like the dinosaurs but I think those would scare my son. I would probably choose the hippo 🙂 Thanks for the chance.

I would definitely choose the dragon. He is so cute, plus my daughter was born in the year of the dragon so it would be perfect for her!

I would go with the Dragon Night Light (since the elephant doesn’t seem to be in stock). These are very cute and such a simple way to help them sleep at night.

I would choose the dragon! A few months back my 5 year old was having really bad nighttime fears. I told her that the magical dragon from one of her favourite stories was sleeping in her playhouse (which is in the yard just outside her window) and protecting her at night. She isn’t as scared now but she still gets nervous before bed. I think this would be perfect for her.
