Have You Ever Been to Disney World? #travel

Disney World CastleIn case you didn’t read yesterdays post, as of this morning at 5am, The Zoo has begun our bi-annual 5,000km, 3-country road trip north from Mexico. Except this time, we’re throwing a twist in things by taking a little detour to Florida for a week long vacation with Nanna and Uncle Andrew at Disney!

Yes, we need a vacation from our vacation.

Growing up, we used to go to Florida as a family for a few weeks in the Summer and would always spend a few days at Disney World. The last time I went with friends was about 20 years ago. Ed hasn’t been in at least that long. It will be the first trip for The Kids and at age five, we think it will be the perfect age for them to experience the magic of Disney.

We’ll only be visiting the parks for three days so we’ll spend two days at The Magic Kingdom and one day (or a 1/2 day) at Animal Kingdom. Unfortunately, the bigger of the two water parks is closed for renovations but to The Kids, a pool is the same as a water park. Their lifejackets are packed so they’re ready to go.

Reina’s been boarded at a fancy resort and will have daily walks, her own tv, spa treatments and the option for bedtime books. I’m not kidding in the least. She’s not going to want to come home.

We’re going off site for dinner (at least) one night and have reservations at Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament. It’s the first time that any of us have experienced eating with our hands and not getting in trouble for it so we’re looking forward to it.

We were at WDW 2 years ago to see my son’s high school marching band perform in the Electric Light Parade at the Magic Kingdom. His band is going again this spring break, in fact he leaves on Friday. We aren’t getting to go this time though 🙁

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

I have never been to Disney. My kids see the commercials and want to go. My husband and I hope to take them at least once in their life.
Enjoy your trip to Disney and your adventure back to Canada!

So cool! I think 5 years old is a great age to take them! My whole family went to Disney for the first time last year, together with my uncle’s family. There were a total of 8 of us “kids”, between the ages of 22-7, and my mom said she thought that was a perfect age group to go with–everyone was tall enough for everything and highly energetic (I’m told that mom and dad did take us to Disneyworld once before, at 4,2,1 and mom was pregnant with the 4th baby, and it was only for one day, while I have no memory of it, I’m guessing it wasn’t nearly as pleasant. 🙂 ).

Yes, I’ve been to Disney World – about 20 yrs ago, the kids loved it but the line-ups were very, very long. A huge disadvantage was having a stroller with us for the little one & naturally she doesn’t remember a thing.
