Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer Assignment and Contest
Do you find yourself nodding your head because you too know a child that loves to take photographs? If so, Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer Assignment might be just the thing that you’re both looking for! For the third year in a row, Posterjack is looking for four junior shutterbugs between the ages of 8 to 12 years old to show summer through the lens of a child.
The Search
Kids can enter the search to become one of the four official Posterjack Summer Kidtographers, by submitting the following information via email to kidtographer@posterjack.ca by June 14, 2015:
- Name,
- Proof of Age,
- City,
- a recent photo taken by their child and,
- a brief explanation (250 words or less) on why they should be Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer (can be written with the help of an adult)
Each of the four Kidtographers will receive a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS (with memory card) for them to use and keep.
The New Twist — A Mid-Season Contest!
As a new twist, this year, one summer photographer (“The Fourth”) will be chosen by YOU. From June 15 to 19, Posterjack fans will be invited to vote on Facebook for their favourite junior photographer (based on their entry photo). The child with the most votes will participate as the fourth Kidtographer. As well, when you vote, you’ll be entered in a draw to win a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS of your own!
The Assignment
From July 1 to August 24, Kidtographers will be asked to snap daily photos. All photos must be submitted to Posterjack every Sunday by 12:00 pm EST. These photos will be featured on the Posterjack blog and social media channels.
The Prize
For all their hard work, each of the Kidtographers will be awarded a $150 Posterjack gift certificate to turn their favourite summer photos into lasting art and a lifetime of memories. If you’re not aware, Posterjack is Canada’s photo-to-art experts. They transform Canadians’ digital photos into big, bold, vibrant artwork on posters, canvas, peel & sticks, metal, acrylic prints and more! We are big fans of Posterjack and have personally used their services on many occasions.

* The Kids use a Canon PowerShot A480.
** I’m currently writing a post to showcase some of Artemis’ work.
Note that the second photograph was taken by Max this Spring. It is a reverse shot down the barrel of the telescope.
Unfortunately The Kids are only 5 years old and too young to participate but my fingers are crossed that this opportunity will still be around in three years.

I also hope that this opportunity will be around in three years! My eldest just turned five and he loves to take photos!
Dear Amy,
If you’d like to share a picture of his, I’d be more than willing to share it on a future “Kids Photography” post that I’m working on. Maybe he’d like to see his name and work “up in lights”.
Besos Sarah.

My kids are all adults now and they are very interested in photography as I was too. Now I’ll have to wait and see if the grandkids have got that gene too 🙂 I think this is a great idea to get the kids going and I’m often amazed at photos kids do take. Looking forward to the new, in progress, “Kids Photography”.
Dear Elizabeth,
I find that The Kids get lots of shots that I wouldn’t otherwise know about or get (picture of me with one of them).

Darn! My son doesn’t turn 8 until July 14, and the other ones are under 8 or well over 8. Nice contest, good luck to all who can enter 🙂
Dear Andrea,
This is Posterjacks’ third year doing this so hopefully your son can apply next year.

Ooh interesting contest! My son is starting to request to take pictures using my iPhone but not sure if he can handle a point and shoot yet.
Good luck on all the kids participating!
Dear Karen,
We gave Max his own point and shoot when he was 4.5 years old. We drilled into him the importance of protecting it and a year later, he still hasn’t dropped or damaged it. Can’t say the same for my camera…

this is an awesome idea , kids love to take pictures , why not let them take a bunch , they can really amaze us sometimes > great idea 🙂
Dear Treen,
The best part is that digital pictures cost nothing (except for the camera itself) so I encourage The Kids to “snap away”.
