The Summer Kidtographer Search is On Until June 14! @posterjack #photography

Summer Kidtographer PosterjackPhotography is a part of my Family’s genetic makeup. Ed loves it, I love it, and, it turns out that The Kids have been bitten by the bug as well. Recently, I posted about Max’s love of taking pictures with his new digital camera*. It was interesting to see the world through the eyes of a five year old. Not to be left out, Artemis has picked up the camera and started a portfolio of her own**.

Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer Assignment and Contest

Do you find yourself nodding your head because you too know a child that loves to take photographs? If so, Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer Assignment might be just the thing that you’re both looking for! For the third year in a row, Posterjack is looking for four junior shutterbugs between the ages of 8 to 12 years old to show summer through the lens of a child.

The Search

Kids can enter the search to become one of the four official Posterjack Summer Kidtographers, by submitting the following information via email to kidtographer@posterjack.ca by June 14, 2015:

  • Name,
  • Proof of Age,
  • City,
  • a recent photo taken by their child and,
  • a brief explanation (250 words or less) on why they should be Posterjack’s Summer Kidtographer (can be written with the help of an adult)

Each of the four Kidtographers will receive a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS (with memory card) for them to use and keep.

The New Twist — A Mid-Season Contest!

As a new twist, this year, one summer photographer (“The Fourth”) will be chosen by YOU. From June 15 to 19, Posterjack fans will be invited to vote on Facebook for their favourite junior photographer (based on their entry photo). The child with the most votes will participate as the fourth Kidtographer. As well, when you vote, you’ll be entered in a draw to win a Canon PowerShot SX520 HS of your own!

The Assignment

From July 1 to August 24, Kidtographers will be asked to snap daily photos. All photos must be submitted to Posterjack every Sunday by 12:00 pm EST. These photos will be featured on the Posterjack blog and social media channels.

The Prize

For all their hard work, each of the Kidtographers will be awarded a $150 Posterjack gift certificate to turn their favourite summer photos into lasting art and a lifetime of memories. If you’re not aware, Posterjack is Canada’s photo-to-art experts. They transform Canadians’ digital photos into big, bold, vibrant artwork on posters, canvas, peel & sticks, metal, acrylic prints and more! We are big fans of Posterjack and have personally used their services on many occasions.

Could Your Child be a Summer Kidtographer?

* The Kids use a Canon PowerShot A480.
** I’m currently writing a post to showcase some of Artemis’ work.

Note that the second photograph was taken by Max this Spring. It is a reverse shot down the barrel of the telescope.

Unfortunately The Kids are only 5 years old and too young to participate but my fingers are crossed that this opportunity will still be around in three years.

My kids are all adults now and they are very interested in photography as I was too. Now I’ll have to wait and see if the grandkids have got that gene too 🙂 I think this is a great idea to get the kids going and I’m often amazed at photos kids do take. Looking forward to the new, in progress, “Kids Photography”.
