Since we travel almost six months of the year, living with less and spending less is key to the success of our lifestyle and having it all. I’ve written some posts about how we save on our food bill and no matter what methods I use; apps, coupons, shopping the sales or nothing at all, time and time again, Food Basics comes out as the best value for my money. I love that I can support Canadian, spend less money and not have to compromise on variety or quality. Win, win, win, win! What’s the fourth win for you ask?
Right now, Food Basics is hosting their #IWantItAll Event Contest!
From now until June 29, Ontario residents can submit a 15-30 second video like I did below and answer the question “if you won free groceries for an entire year, what would you do with the savings”? In exchange for submitting your video, you will be entered to win one of six prizes of $1,000 in Food Basics Gift Cards! In addition, starting June 2, you can receive in-store pin codes and enter online for additional chances to win.
Having it all has changed for me since becoming a parent. Before having The Kids, we lived in a house in the middle of the city, didn’t have to share my favourite food (find out which one below) and ate out dinner five times a week. In case you don’t know, I’m not much of a cook unless you count my prize winning balsamic vinaigrette recipe. Now, we live on 15 acres of land, on a gravel road, where we listen to the birds sing all day and the kids and animals can run free.
Scroll to the bottom to watch my contest video submission and see what I’d buy if I had some extra money. Here’s a little hint; The Kids eat it with a spoon.
How to Enter the Food Basics #IWantItAll Contest
1. Film a 15-30 second video stating what you would do with your savings if you won,
2. Submit the video online using the hashtags #foodbasics and #iwantitall,
3. Share the contest with friends.

Saving on food is a must! Groceries take up the bulk of my monthly expenses! I love seeing Max eating the caviar. That’s just adorable.

Dear Christy,
Saving on groceries is one of the easiest ways for us to spend less.
So, what would you spend the extra money on? Caviar too perhaps 😉

If I had an extra $1000 I would put it into our vacation savings! Saving for Iceland for my 40th!
Dear Brenda,
I hear that Iceland is beautiful and the people are lovely. I love that the name is so deceptive and was apparently intended as such. Good Luck!

I’d like to say I’d spend the money on something fun and fabulous, but really, I’d probably just put it towards our regular groceries or other expenses. Bah!

Hi, My husband and I have enough food to put on our table and we don’t eat fancy (Steak, Shrimp, etc.) but we do
give to the food pantry at our church. By the end of the month it’s usually pretty empty so I would buy in bulk and give to the pantry so that others can eat as well as we do.
Dear Dorothy,
How kind of you to give to others. I hope that you and your community/church members win this prize!
