Fun for Kids & Eco-Friendly! Cascades My Pretty Playhouse.

Cascades Playhouse

There’s never a dull moment at Journeys of The Zoo, especially when the courier arrives. The kids rush to the window in anticipation of things in pretty packages with new and exciting experiences inside. This weeks surprise received tons of squeals when a colourful cardboard box complete with handle arrived. It was…

My Pretty Playhouse from Cascades!

Cascades is a Canadian company based out of Quebec. Not only is this product sustainable as it’s made from 100% recycled cardboard but the packaging is attractive as well.

All the writing was in both official languages of Canada; English and French. It highlighted three key components of the product and I noticed right away that the little boy was drawing with his left hand.

Lefties notice things like that.

Luckily Ed was home so that we could set it up right away. Knowing what I know now, I could have set it up myself, however, the instructions clearly stated: “It is preferable to have two people for assembly”. First of all, yes, we read the instructions and secondly, they should have mentioned that neither of the two people should be under the age of three. Regardless, it took us just under 15 minutes to complete.

Right away, they noticed the snail and bird perched on the roof and ran off to get crayons with no coaching from me. Even at three, they could tell that it was meant to be drawn on. Then again, drawing on everything is a popular sport around here.

Cascades Playhouse

Our house is pretty small (less than 1,000 sq ft) but at 35″ x 32″ x 55″, it fits easily in our living room and is still big enough to accommodate two young kids, an adult and a cat comfortably.

The kids have been trying to destroy it playing with it for several days; climbing out the window and kicking the sides, however, there is no visible damage. Except where the cat ate the window awning.

Check out the video I took of them playing with it.

The bonus, Cascades cares as much about people as it does the environment. So much so that they’ve partnered with Habitat for Humanity and from now until December 2013, for each “My Pretty Playhouse” sold, $2 will go to the non-profit organization.

Going to a wedding, holiday event or just want your kids to think outside the box? Then this playhouse would be a great toy and all for under $35! The saying “Throw away the toy and let the kid play with the box” has a whole new meaning with My Pretty Playhouse from Cascasdes.

The passion and visionary spirit of Bernard, Laurent and Alain Lemaire, as well as the commitment of their employees are the core reasons why this small family recycling business has turned into a multinational packaging and tissue paper company.

I was surprised to learn that Cascades was recycling back in the 60’s. That foresight says something about the vision within the organization!

And I love the photos of the kids playing with this house – it’s great to have things that are meant to be drawn on!

    GUND
I love the Gund animals. I have had several myself. I give them as gifts to my grandchildren. I even entered my puppy in the Gund sweepstakes.

I learned that they "handle over 1.56 million tons of recyclable materials annually, processing the material at 21 material recovery facilities located across Canada and the US."

I really like how they are dedicated to the environment and I also really love the playhouse my daughters are always building forts all over my house and this would give them something they can play in and maybe I wouldn’t find blankets taped to every chair and door handle of my house lol!

Cascades is well-known here in Quebec for its bathroom and kitchen products. I didn’t know that they made kids’ furniture or that beautiful wrapping paper! I’ll have to look more closely when I’m out shopping.
