Eck!
While I support him in this major milestone, I also want to minimize laundry and the need to change his bed. Especially at night.
That’s why, the package from Baby Bug Shop couldn’t have come at a better time.
Stylish Toilet Training Pants!
If you’ve ever been on Etsy then you’re probably familiar with repurposed or upcycled products. If not, they are absolutely fabulous! And if you haven’t heard of Baby Bug Shop, then here are some things you should know.
BabyBug was born soon after our first baby. I made a ring sling because I needed to keep Jack close and I couldn’t find a pretty and affordable one on the market. Shortly thereafter, women were approaching me, asking where I got it.
Then, I began making training pants for Jack out of his Dad’s cool T-shirts. When I added those to my Etsy shop, things really took off and I’ve been trying to keep up ever since!
With the birth of our baby girl I’ve had some great ideas for upcycled items to add to my shop so be sure to watch for them. I’m having a great time expressing my creativity and meeting other parents through Etsy.
Artemis wears bloomers all summer so I figured that once she was totally toilet trained, they could serve that purpose as well. She is slim for her age and was just on the upper edge of the 2T measurements. Tracy suggested that we go with the smaller size (2T).
If you’re wondering yourself, sizing, details for each item are easy to understand and include waist, legs and rise measurements.
I really like the coral pink girls ones but I’m not good with cleaning stains so I picked two that would hide my shortcomings.
At only $13, they’re less than a package of those pull up disposables, are better for the environment and can be passed down. They’re just like underwear but with more protection and the fact that they’re not waterproof allows your little one to feel the wet sensation, helping with the learning process.
The advantage to choosing brown is that both The Kids could use them.
I love the unique designs and detailing such as buttons and a satiny elastic waist band.
Being made from 100% cotton is also high on my list.
They don’t have any scratchy tags on the inside and all the seams but the absorbant padding are serged (and those are double stitched).
Trust me when I tell you that they’re soft and comfy ;).
The one thing that looks a bit funny is how the fabric “bunches” in the front crotch area. I’m sure it’s just the extra padding doing it’s job and isn’t an issue at all when worn as underwear (picture in green pants).
While the kids haven’t yet had a pee accident, they have managed to test the abilities of the pants and thankfully, I can report that everything was “contained”.
The Bonus. Until July 31, 2013, Tracy is offering all of you 10% off your order using the code: ZOO10!
Make toilet training a positive experience for both you and your child by supporting them as they grow with training pants .
Let them be “Big Kids” with Baby Bug Shop Training Pants!
Note. Tracy recently upgraded her sewing equipment so the new trainers will have serged seams and not top stitching like ours.

These look great – what a cool idea! The pink camo ones in her shop are awesome.
Good luck with this major milestone!
What a great idea!! We are struggling with a boy who refuses to potty train. When I remove his diaper he wants something on to pee, and if I don’t let him, he covers his bum with a pillow and pees on my couch.
Thanks for linking up!
We are in the midst of potty training too. She’s doing very well but there are times where she is so engrossed in what she’s doing she (and I ) forget it’s time to go potty. So, we end up with a mess. Something like this would be helpful 🙂
My neice will be having her first in about 6 months–hasn’t been a baby in the family for a very long time–I will certainly be checking out this etsy shop in the future!
nice, I have padded underwear for my LO, but not as cute as these
Congratulations to Max on reaching this momentous milestone–and making that decision on his own, too. That is pretty awesome, and even better that you could make this transition easier with Baby Bug training pants! So glad they worked out for you and for Max.
Those are fantastic! We cloth diapered so I didn’t want to use ‘pull ups’ at that phase – I wish these had been around back then!
Awww those are so cute! Yay for him wanting to try to go all night too!
These are adorable. We used pullups with our daughter for a while (they didn’t exist when my boys were little) and she did not train well. They were so effective at keeping her dry, she didn’t get uncomfortable. After searching everywhere, we finally found some old fashioned, but not nearly this cute, training underwear at Kmart. She trained in two days!
Good luck to your ambitious big boy! 🙂
That is a super cool idea! I see so many great things people have come up that I could have really used when my girls were little!
These are cute. You know in China they start potty train their kids excuse me BABIES when they are born. They use this strange shhh method. I couldn’t ever get anyone to thoroughly explain it and yeah it was kinda gross to see a 3 year old pooing in a public trash can, but hey no diapers! EVER. 🙂
Ok! I’m sold! These are really awesome! We’re toilet training right now and it’s definitely not fun!
Aww these are super cute & stylish for the little ones.
Very cute! My granddaughter is in the toilet training process right now, so these would be ideal for her!
These are so cute and stylish! Starting potty training now and these would be great.
Ooh! I like these! Jax is 2 and he’s day trained. He still wears night ups and wakes up dry 90% of the time.. It’s the other 10% I’m worried about!
I like the idea that these are just like underwear, just a bit thicker and let the child feel when it gets wet. I think these would be a real help in potty training.
