Experience the Arts at a @ShawTheatre Play #HamOnt #Niagara

Shaw Festival Play Tickets GiveawayAfter a winter of hibernating, it’s time for a roadtrip. The destination is a place that has been on our bucket list for a while and everything finally came together this year… the Niagara Region.

It started with Air Miles reporting that people were going to lose their rewards points if they didn’t spend them. Remember the frenzy!? So, we became the proud owners of Family Passes to Fallsviews Indoor Waterpark. Then, the kids read a book on “Wonders of The World” and wanted to see The Falls for themselves. And of course, no trip to the region is complete without experiencing their hospitality, wineries and watching a play at the well known Shaw Festival.

The Shaw Festival

The Shaw Festival is a major non profit Canadian theatre festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, the second largest repertory theatre company in North America. Founded in 1962, its original mandate was to stimulate interest in George Bernard Shaw and his period, and to advance the development of theatre arts in Canada. The company currently plays by or written during the lifetime of George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950).

From June 24 to October 7, “Wilde Tales” is playing in the Court House Theatre. It’s a compilation of plays by Oscar Wilde; The Happy Prince, The Nightingale and the Rose, The Remarkable Rocket, and The Selfish Giant and sure to be a treat. In these tales, he conjures a fantastical world in which statues, birds and even fireworks have the power of eloquent speech. It brings about feelings of kindness, loss, love and speaks to the child in all of us.

I love the Stratford Festival, but have never been to the Shaw Festival! I didn’t know they had musicals too, such as Me and My Girl!

I LOVE the Shaw Festival and try to take in a show every year. My grandparents lived in Niagara-on-the-Lake when I was a kid and my grandma introduced me to theatre so it holds a very dear place in my heart. I’d love to see 1979, Me and My Girl and Wilde Tales (Love Oscar Wilde!). Thanks for the chance!

My wife and I attended a play about 2 years ago during the summer. There are a few that look good for this season but The Madness of George III looks especially appealing.

This is our second year going to the Shaw & we will be seeing Dracula. It would be awesome to add a second play to the list since it is a long drive for us.

Never been to the Shaw before but I’ve heard good things. These new “Secret Theatre” events in mystery locations are intriguing.
