Sometimes Toothbrushes ARE Appropriate Anniversary Gifts

humor anniversary gift
Can you remember the first gift that your significant other gave you?

A card.

A piece of jewellery.

A sentimental moment.

Mine was an…

Electric Toothbrush from Oral B!

I can just imagine what some of you are thinking.

And, if it hadn’t been my first gift from Ed and I wasn’t so madly in love with him, I’d be thinking the same thing.

Instead, I did what I usually do with gifts.

I put it back in its box and shoved it in the back of the closet right behind the workout video, journals and pashmina scarves.

Never to be seen again.

And there it sat for one year until I was looking for something and it fell down on my head.

Let me segway for a minute.

What’s the first thing that you notice about a person? Me, I notice their teeth. If I could get my teeth cleaned every.single.day, I would. Seriously.

Given my love of all things pearly whites, I thought, maybe I should give it a chance. Maybe it would give me that “cool, clean feeling” or maybe that’s Dove moisturizing cream.

Bottom line, I figured, it couldn’t hurt. So I tried it.

And the rest they say is history.

I have used that toothbrush twice, every.single.day (and sometimes more) since I took it out of the box. It almost feels like I’m at the dentist. Minus that gross paste treatment thing that they do.

And then it happened.

As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. So it did.

The battery on my toothbrush died.

But I couldn’t let it go. I couldn’t forget that “ahh” feeling. So, as I was reminiscing on Twitter, the stellar customer services representatives at Oral-B took sympathy in my loss and offered to turn my frown upside down.

Allow me to introduce you to my latest love (second only to Ed)…

I got an electric hand mixer, prefaced by “This doesn’t mean I think of you as only domestic – I just know you wanted one”. I’d say that paying attention to what we really need is far more romantic than soon-to-die flowers. You love your teeth, and so does Ed!

While I’m not sure that others can relate, you came to the right place. We just got a tv recently and have it hooked up to a VCR. Off to see if you twerked at Blissdom.

What a great story, I’m sure that I wouldn’t have been happy with a toothbrush for a present but hey he actually did know you better than you thought 😉

Lol! But it’s for sure a very useful gift, won’t wilt or add extra unwanted pounds. Can’t think of an odd anniversary gift I received, but certainly thanks for sharing!

Oral Health is pretty important, brushing your teeth prevents a lot of diseases from migrating down into your pulmonary tract.

Lol, that’s hilarious! I honestly don’t know what I would have done in this situation! One time my (now ex) husband gave me a waffle maker for our anniversary….because HE wanted waffles!

I think an Electic Toothbrush is acceptable -better than a manual one or one he received from his dentist. You were fortunate to get a replacement from the company. Healthy and Happy brushing.
