A card.
A piece of jewellery.
A sentimental moment.
Mine was an…
Electric Toothbrush from Oral B!
I can just imagine what some of you are thinking.
And, if it hadn’t been my first gift from Ed and I wasn’t so madly in love with him, I’d be thinking the same thing.
Instead, I did what I usually do with gifts.
I put it back in its box and shoved it in the back of the closet right behind the workout video, journals and pashmina scarves.
Never to be seen again.
And there it sat for one year until I was looking for something and it fell down on my head.
Let me segway for a minute.
What’s the first thing that you notice about a person? Me, I notice their teeth. If I could get my teeth cleaned every.single.day, I would. Seriously.
Given my love of all things pearly whites, I thought, maybe I should give it a chance. Maybe it would give me that “cool, clean feeling” or maybe that’s Dove moisturizing cream.
Bottom line, I figured, it couldn’t hurt. So I tried it.
And the rest they say is history.
I have used that toothbrush twice, every.single.day (and sometimes more) since I took it out of the box. It almost feels like I’m at the dentist. Minus that gross paste treatment thing that they do.
And then it happened.
As the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. So it did.
The battery on my toothbrush died.
But I couldn’t let it go. I couldn’t forget that “ahh” feeling. So, as I was reminiscing on Twitter, the stellar customer services representatives at Oral-B took sympathy in my loss and offered to turn my frown upside down.
Allow me to introduce you to my latest love (second only to Ed)…

Disclosure: Journeys of The Zoo received this product free of charge, however, there was no expectation of a review.
I got an electric hand mixer, prefaced by “This doesn’t mean I think of you as only domestic – I just know you wanted one”. I’d say that paying attention to what we really need is far more romantic than soon-to-die flowers. You love your teeth, and so does Ed!
for our first anniversary I got a diaper bag – I picked it out myself, too! I loved that diaper bag.

haha! My anniversary just passed. I wish I saw this post before Sunday!
I received toilet paper from my Mother in Law for our anniversary one year. lol.
That’s a great gift. It surely won’t be relegated to the back of the closet. Everyone has a bum. Happy Anniversary!
Besos, Sarah
Haha, that’s very true, Sarah!
Thank you 🙂
Actually,any gift would be great!
The gift of healthy teeth is perfect anytime! glad you finally got around to using it 🙂 Im still in manual mode.. who knows, maybe i’ll get one for my anniversary gift lol .. btw you do have a beautiful smile!
What a great story, I’m sure that I wouldn’t have been happy with a toothbrush for a present but hey he actually did know you better than you thought 😉
It sounded funny but once I read the rest it was a great choice ty for posting
So far I’ve only gotten great gifts! I couldn’t imagine receiving a toothbrush though lol
Waiting for giveaway for this product 🙂 lolz
I got my grandmother new teeth one year so I respect the gift lol
Lol! But it’s for sure a very useful gift, won’t wilt or add extra unwanted pounds. Can’t think of an odd anniversary gift I received, but certainly thanks for sharing!
Oral Health is pretty important, brushing your teeth prevents a lot of diseases from migrating down into your pulmonary tract.
I’ve been with my guy for 18 years now, unmarried ( with 2 kids )……we just don’t do anniversary gifts lol
What a funny post! My guy’s always been pretty good with anniversary gifts – he definitely takes the time to personalize them 🙂
All I can say is it’s just like a man to be so thoughtful 🙂
Lol, that’s hilarious! I honestly don’t know what I would have done in this situation! One time my (now ex) husband gave me a waffle maker for our anniversary….because HE wanted waffles!
I would love a nice electric toothbrush for a gift!
that is hilarious! at least that is practical!
Practical gifts are good, Matt bought me a KitchenAid stand mixer for my birthday, well I bought it, he just paid for it, and I said it was from him for my birthday. I love it. I’m not sure about a toothbrush thought.

Dear AlwaysARedhead,
If Ed bought me a KitchenAid mixer I would use it as a foot rest. Glad you got the mixer and I got the toothbrush.

Hahaha, well done Ed. I LOVE my electric toothbrush, can’t live without it 😀 Glad you got hooked up with a new one to keep your pearly whites, pearly. My husband is truly a romantic, so my anniversary gifts have been traditional (pearls, watch, leather bag…). We’ll see what the 5th year (in May!!) brings.

Depending on the person you are with a toothbrush might be a good gift. I do not think it would work with my significant other though.
I think an Electic Toothbrush is acceptable -better than a manual one or one he received from his dentist. You were fortunate to get a replacement from the company. Healthy and Happy brushing.
Well the toothbrush is usefull all right.
Have one because hubby said his works so well.
My 1st Anniversary gift, must have been a night out .
